Luminous Being
Only a little over 2% of apparel is made in USA.
Luminous Being manufactures, sews, dyes and hand crafts only in Los Angeles, California.
By making our apparel/clothing locally we can have better control over the ethical and sustainable standards of all our garments.
Luminous Being can support our local economies and keep an eye on work environments of all the beautiful people that have contributed to the making of our apparel.
Our clothing is made by adults and not children.
We are Luminous Beings!
Sustainable
Sustainable fashion re-introduces, eco-conscious methods at the source through the use of environmentally friendly materials and socially responsible methods of production. Sustainable design is where a product is created and produced with consideration to the environmental and social impact it may have throughout its total life span, including its “carbon footprint”.
Ethical Fashion
Countering fast, cheap fashion and damaging patterns of fashion consumption
Defending fair wages, working conditions and workers’ rights
Supporting sustainable living
Addressing toxic pesticide and chemical use
Using and/or developing eco-friendly fabrics and components
Minimizing water use
Recycling and addressing energy efficiency and waste
Developing or promoting sustainability standards for fashion
Human and Animal rights
Certified Organic
Natural fibers that have been grown free of pesticides and other toxic materials, bamboo is a really great textile to use, it is a natural antibacterial and does not need the use of harmful pesticides to grow, thus preserving the health of humans and the environment.
Vegan
Products that have been made without the use of leather or animal tissue products. Examples are shoes and bags made from “vegetal leather” using Amazonian rubber instead of animal skins or other recycled or man-made materials.
Recycled Upcycled Reclaimed
Anything including leather products that has been made from already existing materials, fabrics, metals or fibers. These are often reclaimed from previously made clothing accessories and wood, then reworked into new ones. Fibers can also be re-purposed from pre-existing fabric, re-spun and re-used for new garments.
Ethically Produced
Ethical fashion is a product or garment made with respect for people and the environment. Although there are existing certifications for Organic and Fair Trade, this may include companies producing locally or on small scales in developed countries.
Handcrafted/Artisan
Products that have been crafted using artisan skills such as embroidery, which preserve the perpetuation of ancestral and cultural traditions, therefore helping to preserve the heritage of a specific culture.
